Cara Downey
Assistant Curator
Cara grew up in New York State but spent summers in Ocean City, where she first connected to the area through her mom’s work at 75th Street Medical. She returned to Worcester County in 2019 with her husband, who grew up in Berlin. She is the Assistant Curator, Archivist, and Researcher at the museum and serves on the boards of the Worcester County Historical Society and the Julia A. Purnell Museum. A self-described “history sleuth,” Cara is passionate about uncovering and preserving the stories that shaped Ocean City and Worcester County.

Nash specializes in all things wild, drawing on a background rich in wildlife education. She is often found leading educational programs or hard at work in our aquarium room. Beyond her love for the natural world, Nash is deeply passionate about history and historic preservation, actively participating in various local organizations, including the Eastern Shore Chapter of The Archeological Society of Maryland. A talented artist, she uses her passion for wildlife as inspiration for her art, which she uses to inspire others.
