Ocean City native Louis S. Parsons III lived a life defined by curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. Born to Capt. Louis S. Parsons Jr. and Laura Hudson Parsons, Louis graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1976 before earning his bachelor’s degree from Towson University.
A dedicated supporter of his community and its history, Louis was a member of the Ocean City Museum Society, the Nabb Research Center at Salisbury University, the Dunes Club of Maryland, and Atlantic United Methodist Church.
Louis had a passion for photography, gardening, and travel. His adventurous spirit led him on a remarkable seven-month solo journey around the world, where he explored many countries and cultures. Among the places that left the greatest impression on him were Egypt, Kenya, and Thailand.
In 2021, the Ocean City Museum Society, with the help of Lou’s longtime friend Jeff Williams and Lou’s sister Susan Parsons Berry, established the Louis Parsons III Memorial Photo Contest in his honor. The contest celebrated Lou’s love of photography and encouraged others to capture and share the beauty of Ocean City through their own lens.
Louis Parsons III Field Trip Fund
Building on Lou’s legacy of inspiring curiosity and creativity, we are establishing the Louis Parsons III Field Trip Fund. This fund will allow individuals and organizations to donate in support of educational visits to the museum.
Each sponsored field trip will provide one classroom and two teachers the opportunity to visit the museum free of charge. Students will receive a guided tour of the museum along with two educational programs, creating an engaging and memorable learning experience.
Through the generosity of donors, the Louis Parsons III Field Trip Fund will help connect students with local history, encourage exploration, and ensure that more young people have the opportunity to learn from the museum—continuing Lou’s legacy of inspiring others to observe and appreciate the world around them.
Louis Parsons III Memorial Photo Contest Winner Gallery
The Louis Parsons III Memorial Photo Contest was established in 2021 by the Ocean City Museum Society with the help of Lou’s longtime friend, Jeff Williams, and his sister, Susan Parsons Berry. Created to honor Lou’s love of photography and his appreciation for Ocean City, the contest invited photographers to capture the area's beauty and character. The contest ran through 2025, inspiring participants to observe and document Ocean City through their own lens while celebrating Lou’s legacy.
