The Cape Henlopen Life-Saving Station as it appeared in 1890.
This station was commissioned in 1876.
It was the first station to be built on the Delaware coast.
This station responded to twenty-eight major shipwrecks.
In the photograph the surfmen are practicing the breeches buoy drill.
