Elizabeth Strohecker (nee Showell)

Elizabeth Showell Strohecker, 81, one of Ocean City's scions of the town's founding families, died Saturday night on arrival at Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland, after suffering a massive coronary. A native of Ocean City, Mrs. Strohecker was the daughter of Bettie West Showell and John Dale Showell, Sr. And a direct descendent of Col. Lemuel Showell, one of the founders of Ocean City. She was active in operating the family business of Showell's Amusements on the South Boardwalk here for may years and up to the time of her death. Her husband, Brevard Davidson Strohecker, died in 11951. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth S. Gordy and Mrs. Margaret S. Hall, both of Ocean City and four grandchildren; Harold B. (Chip) Gordy, Jr., John Brevard Hall and Margaret Hall Whittington, all of Ocean City and Elizabeth Gordy Arvidson of Mill Valley, California. In addition, Mrs. Strohecker leaves four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Interment was in St. Paul's churchyard in Berlin, Maryland. (No date on obit clipping)
