Elizabeth Kenly Purnell

Information in this record:
Age 97, of Ocean City, died December 15, 1978, in Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury after a short illness. Her husband was the late Col. Harry S. Purnell. Born in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Edward Gassway and Margaret Purnell Kenley. Known as Miss Zaidie, Mrs. Purnell was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Berlin and had been active in civic and social circles. Her other memberships included the General Levin Winder Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Worcester County Historical Society and the Colonial Dames. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Robert W. White of Ocean City; two sons, R. Franklin Purnell of Seaford, and Harry S. Purnell Jr., of Ocean City; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 17 in St. Pauls Church with Dr. Olin G. Lager officiating. Interment was in the church yard. Maryland Coast Dispatch, 28 December 1978.
