Information in this record:
May Term 1838 That Thomas Purnell of William, has departed this life, by will he devised to a certain Sarah Beswick, Purnell Anderson and William Purnell. That Thomas Purnell had as his heirs at law: William T. Purnell, aforesaid, John P. Brinchlor, Elizabeth Polk wife of Charles Polk, Sarah Beswick / Besmick, aforesaid, wife of Brinckley / Brinkey Beswick, Eliza Ann Purnell, William John Purnell, Esther Elizabeth Purnell, Purnell Anderson, aforesaid, and William Gibbs all of whom reside out of the State of Maryland. Thomas Purnell will: To niece Sarah Beswick and my nephew Purnell Anderson, nephew William Purnell. Release from slavery Negro Jacob, providing he make provisions for the maintenance of his father Allen who I release from Harvey Jacob to be free 2 years after my death. Release Negro Littleton 2 years after my death provided he make provisions for his mother Rhoda. To James Bruff. To nephew Edward James Bruff (family pictures), To my niece Zipporah Sarah Horsey? Purnell Bruff. To my niece hetty Mary Bruff. Nephew William Thomas Purnell Bruff. To Sarah Bruff, wife of James Bruff. To nephew William T. Purnell. To nephew Purnell Anderson. Zackus Bowen made the deceased coffin for $4.50 and to Covington & Purnell, muslin for the deceased's shroud $6.45.
