William Pollitt

Information in this record:
"Died at his residence, two miles from Salisbury, on the 18th inst.,
Wm. Pollitt, aged 84 years. Mr. Pollitt was at one time a companion of the renowned Davy Crockett. They lived together in Tennessee, and afterwards carried on a lengthy correspondence for many years. We note one letter from Crockett to Mr. Pollitt, inquiring the price of slaves on the Eastern Shore, saying that he would like to purchase a few. Davy was known to be a kind master.- Advertiser " 2 April 1881.
