Ralph Hinman

Information in this record:
BASTON, DANIEL, An inquisition taken on the body of Daniel Baston at the home of Thomas Milbourne in Worcester County on 1 April 1818. Baston, a free negro there lying dead and he came to his death on the 31st day of March 1818 about 9 A.M. in the morning. That one Ralph Hinman of Worcester County, on the west end of the bridge which crosses the River Pocomoke at the Town of Snow Hill did in the opposition to the peace, good order and dignity of the State of Maryland, made an assault upon the body of the aforesaid Daniel Baston and struck him with several blows on the head with a large stick causing three separate wounds, on examination of which, it appears that the skull bond was fractured on the left side and on the top of the head and the fracture being about three inches in length, of which would the said Daniel Baston died at the house of the aforesaid mentioned Thomas Milbourne about 4 P.M. the same day. May Court 1818.
