Sallie Mary Cropper (nee Quillin)

Obituary Date: 1/1/1919

Information in this record:
month and day of death not known. Mrs. Sally Mary Cropper fell asleep on Sunday afternoon, after a lingering illness. She was in her 77th year. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Farlow, where she made her home for several years. The Rev. W. Osborne Bennett officiated, assisted by the Rev. S. A. Potter. The interment was at the family burying ground near Taylorville. The pallbearers were her five sons and Mr. Farlow, her son-in-law. According to her wish she was robed in white, and the most beautiful flowers surrounded her, a blanket from the children being the most elaborate. Mrs. Cropper was the widow of James Cropper, who died 33 years ago, and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Quillin, who owned the land since known as the Connaway farm, on the Ocean City road. Her whole life has been spent in this vicinity. She united with the M. E. Church, South, in young womanhood, and died happy in the faith of a glorious resurrection. Five sons and three daughters survive, Thomas and Samuel of Ocean City; Reuben and James of Wilmington; Horace, Mrs. J. O. Hoskins, Mrs. Rachel Perdue and Mrs. J. H. Farlow, in Berlin. Also two brothers and a sister, Stephen H. Quillin, of Taylorville, Samuel M. Quillin, Sr. of Ocean City, and Mrs. Annie Connaway of Berlin. All these (except Stephen Quillin, who was ill in the hospital,) and many other relatives and friends attended the funeral, among them S. M. Quillin Jr., and Clinton Quillin, of Salisbury, and their families, and Mrs. Harvey Long, of Federalsburg. **Newspaper clipping supplied by Shirley M. Riley. P.O. Box 2602, Wilmington, Delaware 19805. Clipping was not dated. (d. 1919)
