Cropper, John S.
Maryland Herald and Eastern Shore Intelligencer, 24 May 1791. John S. Crapper, Dorchester County, reports that Eli Smoot, a young gentleman in Captain John Smoot's family, was cruelly and inhumanly murdered by a Negro man, property of Captain John Smoot named Will. He has obtained a pass that Francis Waters, of Somerset County, gave to one of his Negro men called David. It is expected that he (Will) will make for the neighborhood of Warner Mifflen of Delaware.
