Littleton P. Bowen

MEMORIAL to Dr. L. P. Bowen is Subscribed. Erection of a stone arch and inscribed tablet over the driveway at the entrance to Buckingham Presbyterian Cemetery, at Berlin, as a memorial to the late Dr. Littleton P. Bowen, Presbyterian minister and scholar, who
died at his Berlin home on April 8, 1933, at the age of near 100 years, is to be completed with the next two weeks
The memorial arch is to be dedicated on June 5, the day on which the distinguished Eastern Shore Presbyterian was born.
Incidentally, June 5 also marks the birthday of Roland Trader, Berlin resident and close friend of the late Dr. Bowen, who with Miss Helen Hayward, of Berlin, are conducting the Memorial movement in Northern Worcester County.
The Memorial will be erected with donations solicited by Mr. Trader. Dr. Bowen was buried in Marshall, Missouri, beside the grave of his wife. A former pastor of Buckingham Presbyterian Church, Berlin, Dr. Bowen won nation-wide achievement in locating the Eastern Shore of Virginia grave of Francis Makemie, founder of the Presbyterian faith in America. He was also the author of several books and poems. The Democratic Messenger, Snow Hill, Maryland, (no date, but a March 1936 issue).
