Benjamin Bassett

Information in this record:
Benjamin Bassett, minor in the care of Robert M. Adkins, estate to viewed and valued. Report: An annual value of $20. There is on the land a framed dwelling house one story high with a brick chimney and shingle roof, also another small log house, shingle roof without a chimney, also an old log kitchen board roof, all the buildings are in very bad order: old and deteriorating very rapidly and if not repaired soon will rot and fall to the ground. There is also on the land about 80 old apple trees and about 30 old pear trees. The fence around the cleared land is but indifferent, say about eight rails high. There is no garden nor cleared meadows on the land. This whole tract of land is supposed to contain 196 acres and of that 184 acres are in woods and the other 12 acres of land should be cultivated alternately 1/2 in corn and the other 1/2 in small grains. 29 November 1832.
